CONTEXT




We have certainly heard of talking clocks and talking tech assistants none of which is accessible to the rural areas where the problem of illiteracy and poor healthcare facilities for old people mainly exists.

Some of our grandparents live in villages while some in the city and after the interviews, we got to know that in spite of the geographical differences, this problem is equally deeply rooted in every old person’s routine life...

While some strain their old eyes on the small numbers, some solely rely on their kids and grandkids and some, in fact, use the primitive sundial method to guess time. This method is inaccurate during the rainy season, on cloudy days, during travelling, and sometimes due to the poor sense of direction of the old people. Additionally, sundial devices become useless for poor eyesight and visually impaired people. Therefore, on one hand, the old can’t read due to lack of education and on the other due to lack of proper eyesight...

In villages, people also face frequent power shutdowns so keeping this in mind we need a device that doesn't operate on electricity but on battery. This device needs to be affordable for poor people as well...
